Hostel InfoThere is provision of hostel for Boys & Girls in each hostel. A mess with good food facility is available in both the hostels. Note: Students are advised to read the following rules carefully. A resident who violates any of these rules will make himself liable to disciplinary action; and if he violates any of the rules and regulations more than twice, he shall be expelled from the hostel, in addition to any fine that may be imposed on him.
1. Every student joining Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar, and Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar, who wishes to reside in the Hostel shall be assigned a room in the Hostel, as and when available.
2. No student shall keep any unauthorised person in his/her room. If any such person is found in his/her room, he/she will be liable to be summarily expelled.
3. The student will show hostel fee receipt to the Hostel Superintendent/Warden before admission to the Hostel.
4. Each student must occupy the room allotted to him/her for the session by the Warden and no change of room shall be made without permission. of Director-Principal/Principal.
5. Each resident student is responsible for the cleanliness and proper up-keep of the room allotted. He/she will be held responsible for any damage done to furniture and fixtures in the room. If any student leaves the hostel and fails to hand over in good order all the room furniture together with electric bulbs etc. will be liable to be fined, apart from being required to pay for any damage done.
6. Residents are responsible for the loss or damages to electrical fittings in their rooms.
7. When any room is found locked or left vacant for long, the concerned student shall be liable to pay penalty of Rs. 50/- per day.
8. The Hostel Superintendent/Warden shall have the power to fine a student to the extent of rent for the whole month.
9. Air Conditioners, Coolers, Refrigerators, Electric Stoves, Room heaters or any other electrical appliance of heavy consumption are not allowed. Television, Tape- recorder, Audio or Video CD player, Video Cassette Recorder/Player, are also not allowed to be used.
10. Student found making a wrong use of electricity will be fined upto Rs. 500/- in addition to the cost of repairs, if any; and the matter will be reported to the Director-Principal/Principal for such disciplinary action as he deem fit.
11. Each Hostel shall be under the control of the Hostel Supdt/Warden.
12. Mess workers and Sewadars are under the control of the Hostel Supdt/Warden who only may take action against them for negligence, indiscipline, etc.
13. Residents are strictly forbidden to utilise hostel Sewadar/Sewadarni for personal work, or interfere with their work or use any abusive language about them in any way. No excuse whatsoever will be accepted for a breach of this rule. All complaints against hostel Sewadars should be brought to the notice of the Hostel Superintendent/Warden who will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
14. The residents will not argue, abuse or misbehave with the mess-contractor or vice-versa. Complaints, if any, should be brought to the notice of the Hostel Supdt/Warden immediately.
15. The inside gate directly connecting the Hostel shall remain locked between 10.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m.
16. A student who is resident for a part of any month shall be charged rent for the whole month.
17. A student expelled from the Hostel shall not be admitted in the hostel again.
18. Any student found in possession of, or having used, alcoholic drinks, or addicting or hallucinogenic drugs will be expelled from the hostel immediately.
19. Students are required to pay their Mess bills by 10th of every month positively, failing which they will be suspended from the classes.
20. Before going out from hostel, residents are required to take prior permission and write in the Register their names as well as date and time of leaving the hostel and of return.
21. Female students will not be allowed in the Boys Hostel.
22. In the event of mischief/foul play or accident etc., the Warden/Hostel Supdt. can break open the room for investigations.
23. Generator charges @ Rs.1200/- per annum are payable by each student.
24. Interns will have to pay the hostel fee & generator charges before admission to the hostel provided accommodation is available.
25. Fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
 
More Info Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research

Named after the fourth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Ram Das, the founder of holy city of Amritsar, the Institute of Medical Sciences & Research was started in the year 1997. The first batch passed out in December, 2002. The Institute is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The MBBS degree is duly recognized by the Medical Council of India, vide letter No. MCI-34(41)/ 2002-Med/30334 dated 31st December 2002, and Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, vide letter No. V-11015/7/2002-ME(Policy-I), dated 23rd January 2003.
Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is coming up fast at the Amritsar-Mehta Road with a sprawling new campus in about 65 acres of land. Presently, it is recognized for an intake of 50 students for the M.B.B.S. course annually. The Institute has separate hostels for boys and girls with 200 seats each.
Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is having a magnificent, four-storey institute building was completed in March, 2000 at a cost of Rs. 16 Crores, wherein the offices of the Director-Principal and Registrar, besides a 400-seat capacity air conditioned conference hall with audio system on each seat and a 1000-seat capacity multipurpose auditorium, all pre- and para-clinical departments, four Lecture theatres of 150 seat capacity each and the Central Library are located.
Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research has ultra modern 992-bed new hospital building has been constructed within the new campus of the Medical Institute and is expected to be functional soon with the latest facilities required of a modern hospital in various specialities and super-specialities, at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crores.
Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research also has present clinical teaching of medical students is conducted at old Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, which is 400 bedded hospital located in the heart of Sri Amritsar city near Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple). This hospital is having all the latest equipments and facilities for 50 M.B.B.S. admissions. Electricity supply within the campus is through the Punjab State Electricity Board. In addition, the Institute has installed high power generators. There is round-the- clock uninterrupted electricity supply within the campus including the hostels and residential premises.
At Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research new Campus, a Cancer Hospital, named Sri Guru Ram Das Rotary Cancer Hospital has started functioning for Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy by a latest Cobalt Unit. Service of Brach therapy is going to be started very soon, equipment and building for which are already in position.
It is on cards that after commissioning of the new hospital, this Institute will be going in for 100 MBBS admissions and also postgraduate courses in several clinical, para-clinical and basic subjects for which space, equipment and staff have already been sufficiently placed in position. The Punjab Government and Baba Farid University of Health Sciences have already done respective inspections and have granted N.O.C. for starting these courses. The Medical Council of India has also completed the process of inspections for the post-graduate courses, and these courses will start from the next academic session.
Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Campus is guarded by a strong security team, consisting of ex-army personnel, under the administrative supervision of an officer of the rank of a Lt. Colonel (Retd). The Institute has its own fleet of buses and cabs for carrying students and the staff between the Institute and the city to and fro.
